Brave Old World

Brave Old World, legendary pioneers of klezmer and New Jewish Music, returns to the Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow in 2010 for a rare European appearance. With Alan Bern, Michael
Alpert, Kurt Bjorling and Stuart Brotman, the band has set standards for musicality, innovation and authenticity in Yiddish music since 1989. Brave Old World has been called „the Juillard
Quartet of Yiddish music,” and is honored by colleagues and audiences throughout the world for musical communication that transcends all boundaries of style and genre. Recipients of the Ruth Lifetime Achievement Award in Rudolstadt (2009), no contemporary band has had more influence on the growth of Yiddish music in the last decades than Brave Old World.

Alan Bern – director, accordion, piano; Michael Alpert – voice, violin, guitar; Kurt Bjorling – clarinets; Stuart Brotman – bass, tsimbl, percussion, brass instruments
