Agata Tuszyńska is a writer, poet, reporter, biographer, and author of books of literary nonfiction. She was awarded the PEN-Club’s Ksawery Pruszyński Prize for her achievements in reportage and literary nonfiction. Her newest book, Oskarżona. Wiera Gran [Accused: Wiera Gran] is a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a great Jewish musical diva. This biography of the Jewish singer from the Warsaw ghetto also sheds light on a new, untold side of the Władysław Szpilman story. It is a saga of survival and the shadow that Gran’s survival cast on her subsequent fate.
