Miriam Akavia was born in Krakow; everyone who knows her is  aware that her heart never left town. Her books have been translated intomany languages. She always explains, patiently, that the most important things are love and mutual respect for freedom. She is chairperson of the Israel-Poland Friendship Association. She has received numerous awards for her literary and communitywork. She is the author of many novels, including My Own Vineyard and My Returns.
