Tisha B’Av, falling on July 20 this year, marks the end of three weeks of repentance, and also commemorates the Destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. The Romans destroyed the Second Temple almost 2,000 years ago; throughout that whole period, however, the Temple has never for a moment ceased to exist in the consciousness either of the Jews dispersed around the world, or of the Jews who live in the Land of Israel.
