In Krakow you can find traces of many remarkable men and women, who have lived here only for a while, leaving later to different places all over the world. Others who have spent here their whole lifes, created work which gained international recognition. Walking through Kazimierz and retracing their fascinating biographies, we will get a glimpse into the interconnections between their personal fates and historical influences. The stories reach from New York via Tel-Aviv to Sydney and create a new context for the local space that we explore. During the tour we will visit places connected with the film director Roman Polański, Helena Rubinstein, the founder of a cosmetic
empire, poet and songwriter Mordechaj Gebirtig, educator Sarah Schenirer, painter Alicja Halicka and the illusionist Chan Canasta. The conceptual guided tour, accompanied by visual material that will be shown during the walk was created by the guide collective “Insiders”.
